Elk and/or Mule Deer - In Colorado We offer two hunts. Camp #1 is in the Weminuche Wilderness horse pack in 16
miles to a base camp at 11500' with a maximum of four hunters in camp. A considerable
amount of horseback riding is involved. Camp #2 is in the Piedra River drainage.
This hunt is horse pack in 6-8 miles to a base camp at an altitude of 8,500'
with a maximum of six hunters in camp. An average amount of horseback riding
is involved.
Both camps offer a high percentage of success for elk and mule deer. Hunts
are 5 day hunts 7 days out with additional days available. Guide ratios are
one for two hunters with one guide for one hunter available.
They offer 25 square miles of hunting area per camp. The areas are covered
with spruce and meadows with mild to rugged terrain. The style of hunting
is bulging, cow calling, stalking and some still hunting. All of our guides
are experienced in calling and have archery experience. We understand the
special needs of bow hunters.
Our camps are tent accommodations with woodburning stoves, cots with foam
matting for sleeping comfort and all meals provided. Our cooks and guides
are very experienced and have been with us for some time and will put forth
their utmost effort to make your hunt successful. Everything is included other
than personal gear and license. Muzzleload licenses are by drawing only with
a June 1 deadline for application. A list of suggested personal gear is furnished
at time of booking.
