Weminuche
Wilderness
Archery/Muzzleload Trophy Hunt
These hunts take place
in the Weminuche Wilderness and are horse pack in hunts 16 miles
to a base camp at 11,500' altitude. These hunts are designed to
accommodate a maximum of 6 hunters . The terrain is very rugged
and the area has produced quality 6x6 and 5x5 bull elk and 25-30
mule deer bucks. We have enjoyed a higher than average success
ratio in the past and have had a higher percentage of opportunities
for elk and deer and have had a high percentage of sightings of
animals. Your success will depend on your physical ability and
the weather condition at the time of the hunt.
Hunts are 5 day hunts, 7 days out. Our method of hunting will
depend on whether the elk are rutting moderately or not at all.
In cases where the elk aren't bugling, we will primarily use ground
stands and cow calling, no walking or stalking(patience) as the
main method to hunt. However, if the elk are more aggressive at
bugling, we will be bugling, cow calling and stalking the elk.
In the many years of hunting this area, we have found these methods
to be the most successful.
Our camps are tent accommodations with woodburning stoves, cots
w/foam mats, all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) provided,
packing out trophies and trophy care. Our staff is very experienced
and will put forth their utmost effort to make your hunt successful.
We have cell phone communication to provide emergency assistance
if needed. All you need is your personal gear and license. Muzzleload
licenses for elk and deer are by drawing only with an April
1, 2008 deadline for application. Hunters who have preference
points for elk and deer have an advantage. Archery elk licenses
are unlimited. Archery deer licenses are on a drawing with an
April 1, 2008 deadline for application. See our 2009 and 2010 booking policy in this price list.

Piedra Primitive Area
These
hunts are horse pack in 8 miles to two wilderness camps. We
pack in 2 1/2 hours horseback and use a horse as a vehicle to
reach various areas we hunt. The hunting area encompasses approximately
25-30 square miles per camp covered with aspen, spruce and meadows.
Our style of hunting for the archery and muzzleload hunters
is bugling, cow calling and stalking to some tree stand hunting.
Our style of hunting for the rifle hunters is from still hunting
to stalking to stand hunting in meadows in the mornings and
evenings to some bugling and cow calling depending on the hunt.
All of our hunts are tailored to most everyone's ability. Out
of our two camps, we also utilize remote spike camps in the
earlier hunts. Our camps will accommodate a maximum of 6-8 hunters
and are located at an altitude of 8500'-9000'. Our guide ratios
are one guide for two hunters. The archery hunts have averaged
20%-30% ratio with some hunts of 50% shots taken and 100%sightings
of game. Our rifle hunts have enjoyed an overall 40%-50% ratio
on elk and deer and/or have had hunts 60%-80% and higher. Like
all hunting, the success ratios are dependant on the weather
and the physical condition of the hunter at the time of the
hunt. Our hunts are 5 day hunts 7 days out.
Our base camps have tent accommodations heated with wood burning
stoves, cots with foam matting for sleeping comfort and all
meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are provided and highlighted
with homemade desserts. Our spike camps have tent accommodations
and are a bit more primitive. Our cooks and guides are very
experienced and will put forth their utmost effort to make your
hunt successful. Everything is included other than personal
gear and licenses. A list of suggested personal gear is furnished
at time of booking. We have radio communication in our camp
to provide emergency assistance if needed or if one has an emergency
at home. 2008 will be our 42nd year in these hunting
areas.
Our rifle late season hunt camp #4 is at our trailhead base of operations - 11 miles north of Hwy 160 on First Fork Road. Accommodations, number of hunters, kill ratio and terrain are nearly the same as our horse pack in hunts. Transportation can be by vehicle, foot or horseback. Lodging and meals begin the night before your hunt and go thru the last day of your hunt.
Archery hunts for elk have guaranteed licenses and deer and
bear licenses are by drawing. Muzzleload hunts for elk, deer,
and bear have licenses by drawing. Rifle Hunt #1 has an either
sex elk license by drawing. Rifle Hunt #4 has both elk and deer
licenses by drawing. Hunt #2 and Hunt #3 have guaranteed bull
elk licenses and cow elk and deer licenses are by drawing. Deadline
to apply for all drawing licenses is 4/1/08.
Hunters who have preference points for elk and deer have an
advantage and generally draw their licenses. Hunters without
preference points for elk and deer have a very high percentage
of chance to draw their licenses. See 2009
and 2010 booking policy in this price list.

HORSE PACK IN PUBLIC LAND
SPRING TURKEY COLORADO
|
This
is a 3 day hunt for Merriam turkey on public land in Colorado.
These hunts include 3 nights lodging, meals. We take a maximum of 4 hunters at
one time with one guide for two hunters. We encourage all our hunters to be able to do their own calling.
Our turkey hunt is very unique in the fact we pack in horseback some 11 miles and work out of a tent camp. This allows us to hunt different groups of turkey that are remote and mostly unhunted by the ordinary public hunters which makes your hunt a very private hunt. A suggested gear list will be provided at time of booking. One gobbler only is the law. We have enjoyed a high percentage of success in past years.
We also offer unguided hunts which include 4 nights' lodging and
information as to where you may find birds. Two hunters maximum
per cabin with kitchen. All linens, dishes and cooking utensils
included. No food.

PRIVATE LAND*
ANTELOPE ONLY NEW
MEXICO** |
Our antelope
hunts are strictly private land hunts on various ranches in northeastern
New Mexico. The rifle hunts are 3
days long and are guided-one guide for two hunters or one guide
for three hunters. We have enjoyed a high percentage of success
in past years and have put a number of bucks in the record book.
Average bucks of 14 1/2" are common and we have harvested up to
18 1/2" bucks. Hunter needs to provide personal gear and license.
This hunt has a guaranteed license (no drawing, landowner permit).
We base in Raton, NM and provide motel lodging, all meals, guides, private land permits
and trophy care on these hunts. Hunter needs to arrive the
day before the hunt by 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. This hunt is catered to
all ages and physical condition. We very rarely have more than
four hunters on one ranch at one time. These ranches encompass
an 18 mile area.

These
drop camps consist of our packing you and your personal gear
and groceries to any of four remote camp locations. We furnish
all camping equipment necessary to run your camp. A list of
the exact equipment will be furnished to your group at the time
of your booking with us. We also have these camps completely
set up and ready to go including a pre-cut wood supply. We furnish
the saddle horse and one pack animal for you and your personal
gear to and from our camp. Our packer will contact you daily
by radio for your needs and check your camp at a prearranged
time. Our package also includes packing out any game you have
harvested. We will pack game out from point of kill providing
we can get a pack animal to the site. Camp locations are at
approximately 8500' in mountainous terrain with a mixture of
aspen, spruce and meadows. Camps will accommodate 6 hunters
maximum and are 2-8 miles from the trailhead. They have enjoyed
an average of 30%-40% harvest and as high as 75% depending on
the hunters physical condition and the weather at the time of
the hunt. The pack in and pack out dates are crucial to serving
all of our camps better. We can no longer pack out early or
change dates due to man power, pack animals and saddle horses
available for earlier pack out dates. Your pack in and pack out dates will be set at time of booking and depend on hunts open. Rifle camps generally pack in 2-3 days prior to opening date of season.
Archery-Muzzleload
You the hunter, can choose your own pack in and pack out dates.
Deluxe drop camps are priced on 8 day outing including packing
in and out days. Minimum of 2 maximum of 6 hunters. We will
furnish 2 tree stands depending on size of group.
Archery hunts for elk have guaranteed licenses. Archery deer licenses are on a drawing with an April 1, 2008
deadline to apply. Muzzleload licenses for elk and deer are
by drawing only with an April 1, 2008 deadline to apply. Bear
licenses during September are on a drawing. All drawing licenses

| 2009& 2010 BOOKING POLICY |
Archery,
Muzzleload and Rifle
It is our policy for
those hunters booking a hunt a year or more in advance that a $250.00
partial non-refundable deposit on guided hunts or a $600.00 partial
non-refundable deposit per group on drop camp hunts will guarantee
the hunt at the current price and the first choice of dates if booked
by July 1.. An additional deposit equaling 50% of the total hunt
price less the partial non-refundable deposit shall be received
in our office no later than before December 10 of the year preceding
the hunt or the booking may be considered as a cancellation and
may be sold to someone else.
For those booking 1-2 years in advance that are interested in hunts
with licenses on a draw, we suggest you apply for the preference
points in the 2008 drawing so to be guaranteed a license in the
year you choose to hunt. The advantage of booking well in advance
is as follows:
- Save on price increases as much as two years in advance if
booked by July 1, 2008.
- Book now and you will not have a large dollar amount invested
until December 10 of year preceding hunt when final deposit is
required.
- If booked in advance, you can choose dates and hunts you desire.
- If you are planning one of our drawing hunts, you can
accumulate preference points to be guaranteed a license in the
year you want to hunt.

Deposit Terms on ALL DRAWING Guided Hunts and
Drop Camps For Current Year:
Due to the large number of errors
that hunters we have booked in the past have made on their applications
on various drawing hunts. For example: not sending in the correct

us lost revenue due to the fact it is too late to book another
hunter or group of hunters, we will require a 50% deposit in the
calander year they are going to hunt. The deposit is refundable,
transferable to another hunt that we may have openings or can
be carried forward one year. Deposit will not be refunded if error
is made on the hunter's part and the hunter doesn't draw the license.
The deposit will also not be refunded if the hunter draws the
license and elects not to hunt.
